I don't know yet. I hope to figure that part out during the Saturday Fellows workshop. I have an art teacher friend that is using blogs and wikis regularly to share ideas and short instructional videos. I have been lurking on these blogs and wikis trying to figure out how best to get involved. I also need to know how to get it past the school network barriers for use in school. My tech coordinator says that I just have to give the name of specific sites and their educational value and then the administration will unblock them. I hope so. Kandy Lippincott

I want to use all of them for different reasons. Each one has an application for me to use in my classroom.

Hey; this is fun! I had no idea there was such a range of choices. I think I will explore the options and what they have to offer; just to see which one or combination seems to work best for me. Once I get the hang of it I hope to contribute as much as possible. This workshop today has been a real eye opener!

I feel WIKI would be the best choice for me since I can show video of actual work as well as the written lesson plans.

I'm not very sure but I would say either wikis or blogs. If I got this right a wiki would be a quick and easy way to leave a comment or opinion. A blog is where I can leave info and thoughts.

Blogs seem to be the best way of communicating with each other. Wikis seem to be a good way of planning while podcasts would be a excellent way to display finished work.

I do not know which is best, but I do know that flexibility is a must. For instance, in generating new ideas a blog seems ideal. When drafting, it seems that a wiki would do the trick, and then, once we've written a viable piece on a best practice inserting or hyperlinking podcasts and/or other visuals and auditories with examples or demos would do well.

I think the blog offers the best opportunity to share our Best Practices at this time. As we continue to share our Practices, I'm sure all three will be equally as useful.

Who knows? I'm gonna jump on all of them and figure it out after I try blogging, wiki(ing), flickering, whatever.
Get ready folks...Kandy Lippincott

I plan to use a blog, at least in the beginning, until I really learn to use the other tools. I hope to learn and then apply them all which adds to my professional development and what I can then teach my kids!

I had an epiphany on the way home! The WIKI could be used for students who are on home instruction. Those teachers never know "how to do art". We could video our intro lesson, upload to YOU TUBE and WIKI. Then teachers as well as students could refer to it as needed! No excuse for not doing the lessons we are teaching AND we won't have to make up special lessons for them. OHhh, even kids that are suspended could still do the assignments! AH HAAA! I'm a happy girl. Thanks for the new info, Alan!!!!!!

The first thing I should remark on is that this is the first "techie" professional development I have attended that I could actually remember how to do something with when I got home again. I haven't even used all the gadgets I brought to help me remember how the instructions. I like the summary that Michael made for best opportunity of usage. Idea share through blogging, create a plan and organize it through wikis, and share Best practices through wiki plus podcasts or podcasts alone. Bookiegirl, your techie department chair sound like a dream. I hope mine is as helpful. My first step will to see how to unblock the network so I can use some of this at school. We NEED another workshop and soon!
