Constructive Peer Evaluations of Pastel Painting Art Display

OBJECTIVES

After viewing class art exhibit on global warming ad pastel paintings, SWBAT write constructive evaluations of up to 3 ads

Purpose- to fulfill the Arts high & district’s mission statements & increase character development





PROCEDURES/ACTIVITIES

Do Now: while students circulate to view class “art exhibit” & put election ballots for top 3 on my desk in 10 min., I’ll collect Thanksgiving e-card h.w.

- 30 min. to facilitate a discussion teaching students how to give “sandwiched suggestions” as constructive comments (specific
suggestion[s] b/t specific compliment[s])
-elected poster winners present explanations of their ad
conceptions before choosing 2 classmates for constructive
oral feedback on their posters (15 min..)
- each student writes & give sandwiched suggestions to
Their cooperative learning group & themselves as I circulate
& assist, if needed (20 min.)

MATERIALS:
Global warming ads, environmental project part II handout, constructive evaluation sheets, & ballots

ASSESS:
I will grade how well each student demonstrates constructive evaluations in their written note(s) with up to 33 points for each part of sandwiched suggestion(s) + 1 point for good penmanship
